Location is both a joy and possible concern of a stay at the Gold Coast’s Mantra Circle on Cavill.
Sitting above the Circle on Cavill shopping centre, the 179-room property is located in the heart of Surfers Paradise making it an ideal location for shoppers, beachgoers and those in search of Surfers’ famous nightlife.
At the same time that nightlife could be one of the resort’s drawbacks. I could hear music, joyous partygoers and other ‘interesting’ noises from the streets below my 22nd floor apartment. But that noise didn’t stop me sleeping. So, it could well be there was no noise after: 11.00 pm-ish or I am a heavier sleeper than I thought! Whichever, it’s something to consider for light sleepers.
For those who enjoy partying late into the night the resort would seem ideal given it’s only a very short walk to bed! The same could be said for those who enjoy the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise.
What: Room 2222 Mantra’s Circle on Cavill, an ocean view spa room.
When: June 2024.
How Did It Rate
The Location. Situated in the heart of one of Surfers Paradise’s several shopping centres, numerous shops, restaurants and a stop for the G:link, the Gold Coast’s efficient light rail line, are at your door step. It’s a two minute stroll to Surfers Paradise beach.
My room. Located in the north tower of the residential building’s two towers, my spacious room featured everything needed for an easy self-catering stay. There was a compact, fully equipped kitchen and laundry while the lounge area included a comfortable couch, dining table for four, flat screen TV with some Foxtel channels, DVD player and CD player. The spacious bathroom included a spa bath with scenic views. Equally impressive views were on offer from my large balcony which also proved popular with the Gold Coast’s colourful birdlife.
The views. The room featured floor to ceiling windows offering some great views to the ocean over the surrounding towering hotels and apartments. These buildings didn’t stop me enjoying my ocean views. Watching lights come on and off and calculating how many of these rooms were full became a popular evening pastime. Needless to say most rooms were lit up on Saturday night!
The resort’s facilities which include a well-equipped gym, two lagoon style pools and indoor heated pool, spa and indoor sauna and steam room, games room and garden areas. There’s also a barbecue area and children’s playground. Other facilities include a 12 seater theatre.
Street noise. The noise from the streets below could often be heard at night, however this didn’t affect my ability to sleep. Similarly, while I could hear doors opening and closing on my floor this didn’t have any impact on my stay.
The internet. According to the website there is a charge for the internet however it is free to ALL (Accor Live Limitless) members. While membership to the hotel’s loyalty program is free not everyone may want to join.
