Melbourne performer Michael Dalton gives a wonderful performance in A Different Way Home, a one person play about fractured family relationships.
On at Chapel off Chapel until October 11, Dalton portrays both brother (Leslie) and sister (Maureen) in this play written by UK playwright Jimmie Chinn.
Set in a small closely knit North of England town, A Different Way Home begins with Leslie describing his life, the death of his mother and his fractured relationship with his sister. In the second act Maureen presents her perspective and explains why she made the decision to break away from her family.
Prejudice, the fear of change, sibling rivalry, and coping strategies in times of loss and grief all come to the fore. Although much of the subject matter is sad there are some very funny lines and Dalton does a great job in portraying the emotions and idiosyncrasies of both characters.
Tickets cost $36.50 for adults and $32.50 for concession holders. For more information visit Chapel Off Chapel or ring 03 8290 7000

Great review – I saw it last night and concur with every word. I do hope it gets good audiences for the remaining shows. It certainly deserves it.
