Mariposa Lodge Hotel provided a convenient base from which to explore Yosemite National Park.
What: Room 107 Mariposa Lodge Hotel
Who: JB
Why: Writing a story on Yosemite National Park
When: June 12 to 16, 2014
How Did It Rate
Clean and spacious room which included two queen size beds.
Facilities which included a microwave, small fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and television with HBO.
The hotel is located next to the Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) stop but access is easy to Yosemite and a short stroll to Mariposa’s many attractions and restaurants. These attractions include Mariposa Museum and History Centre which tells of the town’s gold history, and the Mariposa County Courthouse, which is the oldest superior courthouse west of the Mississippi.
Mariposa is around one hour’s drive by car and 90 minutes by bus to Yosemite National Park. While there is accommodation closer to the park, and in the park itself, there are not the same facilities on offer as in Mariposa.
The hotel is fairly old and the walls are thin. I heard the youngsters in the next room one night and a heavy snorer another! Cars can also clearly be heard coming and going.
No breakfast offered, although due to proximity to Mariposa’s many restaurants, this isn’t a problem.
