A magnificent view was the highlight of a stay at Whitsunday Reflections Apartments Airlie Beach.

The view from my terrace at Whitsunday Reflections Airlie complete with an early morning visitor!

The only disadvantage – to offer such views the apartments are located on top of a hill. And as it turned out it was quite a steep hill! Fortunately if you don’t have a car, which I didn’t, local taxi companies are happy to take the short fare.  I only needed to take advantage of this service once – when I was laden with shopping bags from the local Woolworth’s store. Otherwise it wasn’t really an issue.

As there are no restaurant facilities on site the choice is to walk down to Airlie Beach or self-cater. Fortunately the kitchen has everything needed for self-catering while there are plenty of eating establishments in Airlie Beach.

What: Apartment 6, a two bedroom apartment at Whitsunday Reflections Airlie Beach

When: June 4 to June 8 2018

How Did it Rate

The view! According to the website two bedroom apartment terraces are 44 square metres. My terrace felt even larger and offered fantastic views over the Airlie Beach, the Coral Sea and adjoining mountains. I took full advantage of both the outdoor table and chairs and sun lounges. The views from my bed were also pretty spectacular.

The living/lounge area.

The facilities. The apartment included a fully equipped kitchen, very spacious living area, complete with television (there’s also a second smaller television in the main bedroom), DVD player, comfortable couches and a dining table. The open plan main bedroom and adjoining bathroom included a bath and shower. Both the main bedroom and the second bedroom had doors that opened onto the terrace (as did the living room). Another bathroom with a shower was located next to the second bedroom. The apartment also featured a separate laundry. The accommodation was very clean and well maintained.

The internet. There were internet problems in the first apartment I was allocated which resulted in me moving to apartment 11. Here the internet was very fast and reliable.

The staff. The manager was extremely understanding of my need to have internet access during my stay hence the room change. She also provided useful information about getting the most out of an Airlie Beach stay.

The bathroom

While I didn’t see it as an issue, a couple of friends raised an eye brow or two when I explained there wasn’t any screening between the bed and the bathroom’s bath and shower.

The hill leading to the resort! If you don’t have a car and aren’t that fit you will probably need to take a taxi to the resort especially at night.

As half of the 45 apartments within the complex are owned by owner/occupiers there are no `tourist facilities’ such as restaurants, gyms etc. However there is a 20 metre lap/swimming pool and outdoor spa which all guests are welcome to use.
