Watching two kangaroos `boxing’ was one of many enjoyable `nature based’ experiences during my stay at Halls Haven Resort.
While the accommodation was basic but comfortable, the great attraction was the surrounds. The resort is set on 20 hectares and includes paddocks and natural bushland.
What: Room 1, a two bedroom holiday unit at Halls Haven Resort.
Who: JB.
Why: Researching a story on the Grampians Mountains.
When: March 16-18, 2015.
How did it rate?
The setting. My room overlooked a large pond which, with the mountains in the background, provided a most scenic vista.
The wildlife on the property which included goats – that guests are welcome to feed – and alpacas. There are also chickens and ducks.
Family friendly facilities including a tennis court, play equipment, bikes, trampoline and swimming pool.
Bush walks at the back of the property. I saw plenty of birds and kangaroos on these walks.
My room was very clean and while the furniture was basic there was everything I needed. The bed was comfortable, the water hot and all the cooking facilities worked well.
Free Wi-Fi and a large collection of DVDs.
The living room furniture could have been a little more comfortable.
The property is located about 4 kilometres from Halls Gap so if you want to eat out at night it is probably necessary to drive.
